Mission Brief / About
I am a Mechanical Engineering student at Hofstra University, Class of 2027, focused on mechanical design, CAD modeling, additive manufacturing, GD&T, manufacturing systems, and hands-on engineering problem solving.
I will be joining Stellant Systems as an Engineering Intern/Co-op in Melville, NY, where I am continuing to build experience in high-performance engineering and manufacturing environments. My technical foundation includes SolidWorks, Siemens NX, GD&T using ASME Y14.5, 3D printing, prototyping, MATLAB, FEA, thermal simulation, and engineering documentation.
I enjoy bridging digital design and physical hardware through modeling, prototyping, troubleshooting, fit checks, and manufacturing documentation.

ENGG 114 Heat Transfer Design Project | CAD + MATLAB + Fusion 360 + DFMA
Project B developed a forced-convection heat sink for a desktop CPU chip with a 100 W steady-state heat load, 25°C ambient air, an official chip temperature limit of ≤85°C, and an internal derated target of ≤70°C. The final selected design is a 15-fin Al-6061 plate-fin heat sink derived from a 17-fin thermal baseline.
MATLAB predicted a total thermal resistance of 0.4485 °C/W and a chip temperature of 69.85°C for the final 15-fin design without an added TIM/contact penalty. Fusion 360 predicted a maximum temperature of 69.775°C for the final model under the modeled boundary conditions.
The 17-fin baseline achieved a lower predicted temperature, but the selected 15-fin design was the stronger engineering choice because a thermal-only optimum is incomplete. The final design balances modeled thermal performance with manufacturability, tool access, airflow spacing, mounting practicality, lower mass, and prototype readiness.
The selected layout considers the heat sink as part of a larger hardware stack: fin spacing for airflow, tool access for fabrication, mounting practicality, mass, and interface readiness all inform the final 15-fin geometry.
Fusion 360 and MATLAB results are treated as simulation-supported predictions, not real-world validation. Prototype testing at 100 W and approximately 25°C ambient is required before making real-world performance claims.
